Friday, November 13th – TITLE TOWN Soul & Funk Party is pleased to announce the return of its “DANCE & SHOW” series featuring THE RETURN of Akron Ohio’s eight-piece, high-energy soul revivalists – WESLEY BRIGHT & THE HI-LITES!

The band will perform two sets with TITLE TOWN DJ’s spinning soul and funk 45s throughout the evening – a truly a wild, one-of-a-kind show and dance party not to be missed!

WESLEY BRIGHT & the HI-LITES

“From the crisp, dapper suits to the skilled orchestration, the ensemble has proven they’re studied performers through and through. But still, they leave no doubt that soul music is about the heart and that it stirs feet as much as it stirs emotions, which is how they’ve wowed so many crowds. They light fires under people. It might even be unsafe—certainly unwise—to sit through a Wesley Bright and the Hi-Lites performance, as the audience rises to dance, sparked out of their seats by a hot, sonic roar and the kind of showmanship you might have feared had been lost if you weren’t witnessing it firsthand.” – Brittany Nader, The Devil Strip

“The first thing you notice about a Wesley Bright & the Hi-Lites show is the dancing. This crowd is moving. They’re doing the watusi, the mashed potato, the twist and then some. Young, old, white, black, dressed in jeans and dressed in suits, pumps and pearls, they’re moving, “ writes Laura DeMarco of Cleveland’s The Plain Dealer.

Then your eyes are drawn to the man on stage, Wesley Bright himself, a honey-voiced frontman who’s got the pipes and the moves to keep the crowd going all night.

Then, of course, the band: a seven-piece Northern Soul group with a horn section straight out of the ’60s. Like Bright, they’re clad in sharp suits and have been regulary selling out venues in Northeast Ohio and beyond.

Wesley Bright & the Hi-Lites are no typical Northeast Ohio band circa 2014. And a Wesley Bright and the Hi-Lites show is no ordinary gig.

Since the band was formed in Akron in spring 2011 by bassist Bob Basone, drummer Nick Fritsch and singer Bright, the enthralling group has become one of the biggest draws in town.

With sold out shows at Cleveland’s Beachland Ballroom, two singles on Hi-D-Ho Records, the band is currently at work on a full-length release, while expanding its touring base across the U.S and fielding offers to tour the U.K., where their singles have been getting rave press and regular spins.

Don’t miss THE RETURN of Wesley Bright & The Hi-Lites in Pittsburgh!

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been FIVE YEARS already. TITLE TOWN Soul & Funk Party invites you to celebrate with us on Saturday, October 11th at the brillobox beginning at 8pm.

Since October 2009, TITLE TOWN has been hosting its monthly soul and funk get down at various locations around Pittsburgh – and beyond. Voted one of the best dance parties of 2010 and 2013 by Pittsburgh City Paper readers, TITLE TOWN has secured itself as a staple of Pittsburgh’s club scene and a hedonistic throwback to the days of legendary clubs and long-lost nightspots of the past.

And the mission has always remained the same – pay tribute to the lost and forgotten soul sounds from the artists and regional scenes of the ‘50s, ‘60s, and ‘70s. It’s an intimate dance party, driven by the warmth, spontaneity and grit, of the 45 r.p.m. record – and it’s a night of music that doesn’t sound like anything else.

So we press on, we work the decks and the dance floor late into the night, spinning rare and classic Soul, righteously funky grooves mixed with a hefty dose of Motown, Disco, old-school Rhythm & Blues, Latin Boogaloo, and more of the goodness that keeps you coming back.

Most importantly, we couldn’t have done it without your support. A huge thanks goes out to the everyone at the Shadow Lounge and the Brillobox, the bartenders, the guest DJs…and of course…you.

See you on the dance floor!

RSVP on Facebook.

SATURDAY, September 13th
TITLE TOWN Soul & Funk Party
brillobox (4104 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh)
Doors/music at 9pm; 21+; $6

Pittsburgh’s TITLE TOWN Soul & Funk Party returns on Saturday, September 13th for its ongoing residency at the Brillobox.

This month, we present our “summer’s almost gone/back to school” edition – spinning five hours of soul music, cutting across all eras and styles, played loud for a ready-to-party crowd – one last time before summer’s gone.

As always, we continue our mission of throwing one of the most lively and interesting parties in the city – “tug on your heart” soul music, uptempo funk, sultry R&B, disco and Latin Boogaloo combined with screenings of vintage film. It’s a variety of sights and sounds you won’t find anywhere else.

Chill out downstairs as the sun sets, share some food and drink, then get down on the upstairs dancefloor once night falls.

If this sounds like something you’d be into, we’ll save a spot for you on the dance floor.
