Now in its ninth year, TITLE TOWN Soul & Funk Party returns to its home base at Spirit. You know the drill – five hours of deep cuts and classic joints – from Northern Soul to breezy disco, feel-good funk to vintage R&B, boogie and boogaloo, and anything and everything in between. Tell a friend and let’s dance.

TITLE TOWN upholds Pittsburgh’s rich DJ legacy with an appreciation for timeless tracks and seldom-heard sounds from decades past – Northern Soul, ‘70s nightclub funk, disco and boogie, ’50 and ‘60s vintage rhythm & blues, and anything and everything in between. It’s Etta James meets James Brown, the Steel City to the Motor City, with a feel-good house party atmosphere all night.

The music was created for the dance floor: Up-tempo beats, funky grooves, and a blast of infectious energy. TITLE TOWN navigates genres and eras, blending the best of labels such as Motown, Stax, and Chess with hand-picked rarities from regional soul scenes around the country and right here in the Burgh.

We know you got soul.

THIS IS OUR 7-YEAR ANNIVERSARY AND OUR LAST PARTY OF 2016.

To help us celebrate, TITLE TOWN welcomes a maestro of contemporary modern funk and hip hop production, Orlando “Buscrates” Marshall aka the Sixteen Bit Ensemble. DJ, producer, musician, and one-third of Pittsburgh’s East Liberty Quarters collaboration – he will be in the house throwing down a not-so-common, all-45 set of fat funk, synth soul, underground boogie, disco beats, and beyond.

Music Is My Sanctuary writes “the producer known as Buscrates (or Buscrates 16-Bit Ensemble) captured our ear a couple years ago with his early releases; already miles ahead of your average beat maker. The Pittsburgh-native (now based in Atlanta) has an undeniable sound, a mix with Boogie-Funk, Soul heavy on synths but also with the influence of being raised on a steady dose of Boom Bap. His EP titled “The Spectrum” released on Omega Supreme Records is easily one of the best in the great Modern Funk movement.”

Join us on Friday night as we celebrate the birthday and musical genius of Stevie Wonder. Shake your limbs to a hitmaking grooves of Little Stevie’s early classics and get down to the funky, sophisticated soul of his diverse later work that made him an inspiration to the world and musicians everywhere.

You can look forward to Stevie classics, but also expect deeper cuts and underplayed Stevie tunes in addition to TITLE TOWN favorites all night long.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Children’s Health Fund and Pittsburgh’s Rainbow Kitchen Community Services.

TITLE TOWN returns to the Ace Hotel Pittsburgh on Friday, April 8th.

Every second Friday of the month, we pack the Ace Hotel and transition a three-story gym into one of the best clubs in the city – jam-packed with rare and classic soul, deep funk, vintage R&B, disco, and boogie – it’s five hours of underground classics taking you back to the earliest days of Motown to the heady years of the disco era.

Complete with an original wooden dance floor, an unbeatable sound system, and plenty of space to get down, The Gym at the Ace Hotel is reminiscent of the glory days of the England’s northern soul all-nighters, the Wigan Casino, and the packed dance halls of Western PA. Needless to say, it’s one of the most unique dance floors in the city.

Let’s drink and dance it off under the disco ball. That’s what we do.
