Following the sold-out FIVE-YEAR anniversary last month, TITLE TOWN Soul & Funk Party is back to do it again at your favorite after-dark destination for dancing and debauchery – the Brillobox.

Armed with two turntables, decades of vinyl digging, and a big soundsystem – TITLE TOWN keeps it goin’ all night with their boundary crossing selection of long-lost ‘60s and Northern Soul, Motown, deep funk, disco, vintage R&B, Latin Boogaloo, Hammond heavy jazz – and more.

Some come through and let your guard down. Chill at the bar or get on the dance floor. It’s a music mystery tour like no other – and we want you to come with us. Just don’t forget your dancing shoes!

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been FIVE YEARS already. TITLE TOWN Soul & Funk Party invites you to celebrate with us on Saturday, October 11th at the brillobox beginning at 8pm.

Since October 2009, TITLE TOWN has been hosting its monthly soul and funk get down at various locations around Pittsburgh – and beyond. Voted one of the best dance parties of 2010 and 2013 by Pittsburgh City Paper readers, TITLE TOWN has secured itself as a staple of Pittsburgh’s club scene and a hedonistic throwback to the days of legendary clubs and long-lost nightspots of the past.

And the mission has always remained the same – pay tribute to the lost and forgotten soul sounds from the artists and regional scenes of the ‘50s, ‘60s, and ‘70s. It’s an intimate dance party, driven by the warmth, spontaneity and grit, of the 45 r.p.m. record – and it’s a night of music that doesn’t sound like anything else.

So we press on, we work the decks and the dance floor late into the night, spinning rare and classic Soul, righteously funky grooves mixed with a hefty dose of Motown, Disco, old-school Rhythm & Blues, Latin Boogaloo, and more of the goodness that keeps you coming back.

Most importantly, we couldn’t have done it without your support. A huge thanks goes out to the everyone at the Shadow Lounge and the Brillobox, the bartenders, the guest DJs…and of course…you.

Pittsburgh’s TITLE TOWN Soul & Funk Party returns on Saturday, September 13th for its ongoing residency at the Brillobox.

This month, we present our “summer’s almost gone/back to school” edition – spinning five hours of soul music, cutting across all eras and styles, played loud for a ready-to-party crowd – one last time before summer’s gone.

As always, we continue our mission of throwing one of the most lively and interesting parties in the city – “tug on your heart” soul music, uptempo funk, sultry R&B, disco and Latin Boogaloo combined with screenings of vintage film. It’s a variety of sights and sounds you won’t find anywhere else.

Chill out downstairs as the sun sets, share some food and drink, then get down on the upstairs dancefloor once night falls.

If this sounds like something you’d be into, we’ll save a spot for you on the dance floor.

TITLE TOWN Soul & Funk Party – Pittsburgh’s second Saturday get down – returns to the Brillobox to kick off summer with the hippest dance floor trip in town.

Good vibes and good times, TITLE TOWN spins the long forgotten gems from the best periods of American music – ‘60s soul to obscure funk to disco, old-school rhythm & blues and more. Groups whose names ring few bells with casual soul fans – The Basic Sounds of Pittsburgh, The Third Guitar, Family of Eve – are spun side-by-side with the some of the most important artists in history – Sam Cooke, Aretha, The Isley Brothers, Curtis Mayfield and more.

Kickback with a drink or let it all out on the dance floor, TITLE TOWN is your Saturday night destination at one of the East End’s best party spots.

Armed with two turntables and a mixer, TITLE TOWN Soul & Funk Party is back on May 5th and we’re serving up a five hour slice of the good stuff, the cream of the crop, the rhythm, funk and soul of cities like New Orleans, Detroit, and Memphis – and we DANCE and show our respect to the singers, songwriters and musicians and who made this music so great. So get to the Brillobox where the beat never stops. We do the heavy lifting while you pour back libations, dance manically and get sweaty with a bunch of your closest friends.

And things just keep gettin’ better.

This month we welcome guest DJ TY JESSO – hailing all the way from Providence, Rhode Island, Ty spins monthly at Boston’s longest and award winning soul and funk DJ night, SOULELUJAH. Now in it’s eleventh year, SOULELUJAH & TY JESSO know how to throw a party – pounding Northern and ‘60s soul, wild R&B, and boogaloo mixed up in a fervent, four-to-the-floor journey that makes this one of Boston’s best DJ nights – every Saturday at the legendary Middle East Club in Cambridge, Mass.

Besides Soulelujah, Ty has been DJing ’60s rock, soul, R&B, and garage 45s nationally and internationally since the ’80s. He has DJed top club nights such as New York’s Soul Clap & Dance Off, Smashed Blocked and the Subway Soul Club, Chicago’s ModChicago, Baltimore’s Save Your Soul, Miami’s Southernmost Soul Party as well as several New Untouchables Mod Events in London.

Get ready Pittsburgh…

THIS Saturday, March 29th, TITLE TOWN Soul & Funk Party is stoked to be bringing Akron, Ohio’s #1 soul sensation, Wesley Bright & The Hi-Lites to the Thunderbird Cafe for their  first show in Pittsburgh!

Wesley Bright & The Hi-Lites, an eight piece soul outfit from Akron, Ohio, has released two 45s and their current single “Tell Me” is available on iTunes.  They’re currently on tour and just wrapped up the recording of their first full-length record.  They have been regularly selling out shows in Cleveland and have been getting radio play and spins at top nights in Europe. They’ve got a great horn section and their frontman, Wesley Bright, has some serious pipes and a whole lot of energy.  If you’re into Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings or Charles Bradley, this show is for you.

For their first show in the Burgh, we’re doing a Title Town “Dance & Show”…think part live show, part soul dance party.  The band will perform 2 sets with DJs spinning 45s all night. The Thunderbird is also now entirely SMOKE FREE for live shows.

Saturday night, middle of winter, Pittsburgh – TITLE TOWN Soul & Funk Party is back with your monthly dose of killer tunes for our favorite dance floor in the city. It’s a signature mix of four-on-the-floor soul, deep funk, vintage R&B, disco, Latin boogaloo and the rest of the best – all vinyl, all with a whole lotta soul.

Deep digging, driving drumbeats and tight grooves – it’s soul and funk music and it’s a formula we’ve been committed to since 2009. We’re not turnin’ back.

Right off the bat, we’ll dim the lights and pour you a stiff drink. We’re on our way and touching down in New Orleans, Memphis, Detroit and back to Pittsburgh, Pa.
