Haiti Earthquake Response Donations

Hey everyone,

This Saturday (1/30/2010) at the Shadow Lounge, we will be collecting donations at the door to support Doctors Without Borders and their work to provide emergency medical care for the men, women, and children affected by the earthquake in Haiti. The organization has three hospitals in Haiti, over 800 field staff and consistently receives the highest rankings in operating efficiency.

In addition, TITLE TOWN will donate $1 from every paid admission at the door and an additional $50 for every 100th person who comes out. Help us spread the word.

TITLE TOWN Funk & Soul Party Kicks Off On October 24, 2009

Title TownOn Saturday, October 24th at 9pm, deejays J. Malls and Gordy G. kick off the TITLE TOWN Funk & Soul Party at the Shadow Lounge. Guaranteed to be one of the finest, monthly dance nights in the Burgh’, TITLE TOWN launches from the ashes of two successful DJ events: The Big Throwback and Vipers Soul Club. This night will bring together juicy slabs of top-notch soul and righteously funky grooves mixed with a hefty dose of Motown, old-school rhythm & blues and Northern Soul.

To help kick things off, TITLE TOWN will feature New York’s own DJ, music historian, and DAPTONE records affiliate, DAVID GRIFFITHS. Griffiths is best known for co-hosting (along with Mr. Fine Wine (WFMU)) the respected and wildly-popular BUMPSHOP soul and funk nights in New York City. Earlier this year, David Griffiths and Daptone Records released the Bob and Gene lost classic “If This World Were Mine.”

Join us for 5 hours of non-stop dance music and DANCE-OFF with a $50 CASH PRIZE (!!!) in the middle of the night.

You’ll hear rare soul legends like Barbara Mason, Gene Chandler and the Voices of East Harlem, deep funk from The Caprells and The Whatnauts, and classics 45s from Jackie Wilson, Stevie Wonder and James Brown!

The Shadow Lounge is a smoke-free venue committed to bringing the best in local and national acts to Pittsburgh PA. The Lounge is located at 5972 Baum Blvd. Pittsburgh, PA. Phone: (412)363-8277. Guests must be 18 and over to attend.
