TITLE TOWN soul & funk party returns on Saturday, November 28th at Shadow Lounge. Inspired by the forgotten sounds of artists like Renaldo Domino and Spanky Wilson, TITLE TOWN revisits 60’s and 70’s soul, deep and classic funk, and old school rhythm & blues. DJ’s J. Malls (formerly of the Big Throwback) and Gordy G. (formerly of Vipers Soul Club) spin five hours of the finest, rare and classic grooves for the dance floor – strictly on 45 rpm records.
This month they welcome Washington, D.C. based DJ and music historian, KEVIN COOMBE (aka DJ Nitekrawler). Coombe hosts the monthly MONEYTOWN funk party and is the founder of www.dcsoulrecordings.com as well as the Hometown Soul Records imprint. D.C. Soul Recordings is dedicated to documenting the history of DC and Maryland soul and funk music. Don’t miss your chance to get down and get sweaty to the rarest wax our nation’s capital has to offer.
Expect to hear beat-heavy tracks by Mary Love, J.J. Barnes, Joe Quarterman … Latin movers from Joe Bataan, Ray Baretto … classics by legends like Curtis Mayfield, the Parliaments and much, much more.
